Canada kicks off Ad Week
Canada's very first Advertising Week takes place in cities across the country from Jan. 26 to 30.
Spearheaded by the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA) and a host of agencies and national professional associations, the week-long industry "think tank" will feature events in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax, among other cities.
Activities include two award shows - the Cassies on Jan. 29 and the Marketing Hall of Legends gala on Jan. 27 - as well as thought-leadership conferences, student-mentoring initiatives and agency open houses. Confirmed Canadian speakers include DDB Canada chairman/CEO Frank Palmer, Taxi president/CCO Paul Lavoie, and ZenithOptimedia president and CEO Sunni Boot. Also on the roster are international guests such as Virgin magnate Sir Richard Branson and Chuck Porter of N.Y.C.'s Crispin Porter + Bogusky.
